    (Letter to Guillermo)

I had been uneasy for several nights and not sleeping well. A bird which was not from this world kept flying into my tombo net. I was taking the plants daily. I knew this was not just a ordinary vision. I tried all the usual techniques we have been given: blowing smoke, preparing perfume, chanting and other rituals. Nothing worked. I asked James(Guillermo's son) to clean me and the tombo. He tried. The bird kept returning. I called you(Guillermo) in my dreams, my ceremonies, I sent an e-mail, a letter via guards, and told James to tell you(Guillermo) verbally. Three weeks long I "suffered" and received no response. One night I was more uneasy than usual, packed my stuff up and went to the maloka and slept there. By the time I arrived, all others had already gone to sleep and only H was aware that I was sleeping in the maloka. During the night the bird attacked me in my dreams and I awoke at 5 am or about then, covered with sweat. I packed my stuff up and headed back to my tombo. Upon entrance, I saw that the door which I had not locked was closed but the screen in the back of the tombo had 4 nails in a row taken out and was flapping in the wind. As h delivered breakfast I showed him this: a rat he said. A very intelligent one I countered.

Around 11am I was working on plants next to my tombo, stooped down and sensed that somebody was nearby.I felt it. I just kenw somebody was there. As h delivered my lunch I mentioned this. Go look I said. No he replied it is your imagination. You take too many plants, laughed and left. I called him back. he returned. I stated there is somebody there. I smell him and he does not belong here. Oh this must be the workers. They are in the area. I knew they were not.

After lunch I went to the upper garden which is 20 m from my tombo and has no view of my tombo. I worked about a half an hour and then returned to the lower garden chanting my usual chant for the plants. Upon entering my tombo, I noticed that some things were out of place. As I had a kobold the past few nights who played a lot of games I said: "hey. You should leave things alone."

I slowly realized: it was something else. The energy had shifted. This is all how I can described the sensation. I just felt things sliding and went to my chest of drawers, opened them and found nothing. The only things the robbers left were those which were sitting visibly. All other belongings were gone. The bedspread was there but everything under it was gone.

I received no support after this occurred: I was not informed of the ceremony that evening which was primarily to help me. I had to organize getting into Iquitos on my own in spite of crash rains which was difficult as we were cut off from the neighboring village. The first night I spent alone in my tombo. Nobody stopped to ask if I might need something. By the time I had realize the extent of the damage, it was dark. I had neither candles, lighters or flashlight. I had no clothes I could put on as I the ones I had on during the robbery were sopping wet. I spent the night without a blanket crying. The following 3 weeks where a trial as I received no visit or comment from you and only after 4 weeks did you finally make a ceremony with us.

Later I spoke with Guillermo stating all what had happened and that I had been calling him. I knew he had heard it but chose to ignore. As I confronted him with the information, he listened in an unusually intensive manner yet made no comment. As I boldly stated "I know you heard me calling you" he asked for details. It was apparent he had heard but not taken the call seriously.

After the conversation, I could feel him watching me as I walked down the path to my tombo. It was an intensive scrutiny. Later that day, I was served a non traditional meal for luch with the information that Maestro Guillermo had lifted all food restrictions for my diet stating my energetic level was high enough to handle this. I however maintained the traditional dietary regulations.

Guillermo would not have my things stolen but once this is done, he is not opposed to hanging his bit on it to strengthen a teaching effect. It was only a year later where I finally understood the process and write about it in a detailed manner in a correspondence to a second apprentice here. The correspondence gives a detailed description of the process, its profundity and incredible world of magic which it opened up.
